HomeHats helps homeowners plan a home project. You describe what you want done, and we break it into tasks, put them in order, show which parts you might do yourself, and point you to local contractors for the rest.

No. HomeHats is free for homeowners. Contractors pay a flat monthly fee that has nothing to do with the size of your job, and we never charge per lead.

We’re starting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. If you’re elsewhere you can still join the early beta list, and we’ll let you know as we expand.

No. You won’t submit a form and then get calls from several contractors. We don’t sell your phone number or email, and you decide who to contact and when.

We show local contractors by trade along with their Google ratings and review counts. We don’t certify, vet or endorse anyone, and we can’t verify a license from Google data, so please check a contractor’s license and insurance yourself before hiring.

Not yet. Local prices vary too much for an honest guess. Instead, each contractor card has questions to ask so you can compare estimates.

Often, yes. Your plan marks which tasks are reasonable to do yourself and which need a licensed pro. Gas and structural work is never offered as a DIY option, and other risky tasks show a specific warning first.

You hire and pay contractors directly. HomeHats is not a party to that agreement and doesn’t take a cut.

Not to build a plan. If you want to save it and track your project, we only ask for your email and send you a link to get back in. No password.
